The month of March meant reflection for some, and social media challenges for others, with Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day (IWD) on the 8th. Here at Audible, this meant celebrating with our customers by sharing favorite listens from our Women@Audible group, and as a company, with a series of global celebrations:
In New Jersey, we started off the week with a Bold Actions Wall asking “How will you be bold?” What started off as a white mural with some hashtags, transformed into a colorful wall filled with inspirational quotes, shout outs, personal aspirations, compliments, and +1s.
On Wednesday afternoon, Anne Erni, our CPO and sponsor of Women@Audible, kicked off the ice-cream social with her insights on what it means to be bold, and some humbling encounters with Diane Von Furstenberg. Meanwhile, Sanjay Tiwary, our CIO and sponsor of Audible Women in Engineering and Don Katz, our CEO, joined the photo booth for some selfies and inevitable boomerangs. We were fortunate to have our friends from sister Amazon offices join us for the sugar-infused celebration.
A Women’s History Month-themed Happy Hour ended the week with trivia, empanadas, drinks, and games. One game involved forming teams where all but one were blindfolded and scattered through an obstacle course. The teams came up with a communication protocol that didn’t involve words, and the blindfolded teammates had to be bold by following the audible directions to the finish line.
The spirit of diversity and being bold for change continues…
Meanwhile, Cambridge celebrated International Women’s Day by tuning into Seattle’s and Virginia’s International Women’s Day panels and hosting a Be Bold For Change discussion to collaborate on short and long-term plans. In Chennai, some of our leaders shared bold life-changing actions and colleagues shared their inspiring stories. There were a series of activities including Zumba classes and self-defense sessions. IWD marked the official launch of a new Amazon Women in Engineering chapter in Chennai, where female technical speakers shared their career paths, challenges they faced, and attendees got to engage with the chapter’s exciting agenda.
March may be coming to an end, but the spirit of diversity and being bold for change continues…
